Acoustichris
biography
Played music all my life, purely amateur. I gave up on electric guitar some years ago, I really wasn't good enough. I play acoustic 6 & 12 string guitars, sing, and have written a few songs and instrumentals.
Widowed, one kid, work with computers for a living.

Meant to Be
Written about 10 years ago, after my daughter's breakup with her long-time boyfriend. I got to thinking what he was probably going through, and wrote this song. Been there myself a few times.
Fairy Dance
Come my lads and sit a while, beneath the glowing moon
And if you’re sitting still enough, you’ll hear a mournful tune
’Twas in this place some years ago, a lady and her man
Who felt a witching power, and beheld a fairy band
They marched out from yon grove of trees, with faces long and glum
And played an ancient tune upon their whistles and their drums
The sound it billowed louder then, and grew upon the breeze
With tiny wisps of Tule fog encircling the trees
The two were frozen in their place, they could not move at all
And as they watched, the grove of trees became a misty hall
The band marched on and played their tune, and paid them ne’er a glance
But their feet they started twitching as if they longed to dance
And the band circled round
And the piper called the tune
While the couple danced without a sound
It ended all too soon
They told no one what they had seen; nor where they thought they’d gone
For they knew no one would understand the power of that song
Instead they slipped away one night, when the moon was full and round
And they went off a-looking for that magic fairy sound
But no one’s ever seen them since, they disappeared that night
And all that people knew was that something wasn’t right
For if they sit alone at night when the moon is full and round
They start to think they might have heard a mournful fairy sound
And the band circled round
And the piper called the tune
While the couple danced without a sound
It ended all too soon

Cold Dark Night
A pale crescent moon hung low in the sky; though the lake fairly glittered with light
Her eyes shone bright as leaves skittered by with the wind on a cold dark night
An owl swept by on its endless quest and her breath blew frost in the cold
As she waited for something to give her rest from a story that’s never been told
And he sat alone in a quiet cell, while he thought of what to do
With a looking glass and an old sea shell, to make his dreams come true
Morning came softly as the moon sinks from sight and the shadows hide from the light
He crossed the field over, and found her there with shadows of moonlight dancing through her hair
For he sat alone in a quiet cell, while he thought of what to do
With a looking glass and an old sea shell, to make his dreams come true
With a looking glass and an old sea shell, to make his dreams come true
Her eyes shone bright as leaves skittered by with the wind on a cold dark night
An owl swept by on its endless quest and her breath blew frost in the cold
As she waited for something to give her rest from a story that’s never been told
And he sat alone in a quiet cell, while he thought of what to do

Song for Two
SONG FOR TWO
I know you're not my kind of woman,
I'm not your kind of man
But I know where you're coming from,
And you know where I am
You say you played a wandering tune -
You ran away from home
Me - I play different song,
And I sing it all alone
(Chorus)
But I just might learn to sing a song
That more than one could play
And maybe you could sing along, if only for a day
Now maybe you won't like it here,
Perhaps you'll wander on
But stay a while and be with me,
Don't go before the dawn
Now I know you think that I'm just some fool
Who wants to settle down
But can't you see that I got no roots
In this barren patch of ground
(chorus)
Instrumental verse
(Chorus 2)
Now I just might learn to sing this song,
Now I think that two can play
And maybe you could sing along,
If only just today
I know you're not my kind of woman,
I'm not your kind of man
But I know where you're coming from,
And you know where I am
You say you played a wandering tune -
You ran away from home
Me - I play different song,
And I sing it all alone
(Chorus)
But I just might learn to sing a song
That more than one could play
And maybe you could sing along, if only for a day
Now maybe you won't like it here,
Perhaps you'll wander on
But stay a while and be with me,
Don't go before the dawn
Now I know you think that I'm just some fool
Who wants to settle down
But can't you see that I got no roots
In this barren patch of ground
(chorus)
Instrumental verse
(Chorus 2)
Now I just might learn to sing this song,
Now I think that two can play
And maybe you could sing along,
If only just today
